to the Skeptics,

I had a postcard prepared for someone else today, but it will have to wait because there is something I need to say to you. When I tell you I'm going to law school, you people always say, "Really? Are you sure that that's what you want to do?" Well, yes. Yes, I'm sure. And the more time I spend at this internship, the more sure I become. Today, during a cross examination at the DC Superior Court, the Judge invited me up to counsel's table to look for a document - and I found it. You always ask, "Why do you want to be a lawyer?" Today it was because my heart raced just walking up to the table, because finding that W2 felt like some kind of moral victory, because I loved having a Judge address me, because it just felt awesome to be in Court trying to help people.

Yes, I want to go to law school. Yes, I want to be an attorney. Seriously. I'm sure.

  3. Can't wait until we can take "counsel" from our family's offical attorney - just like we do from our very own physical therapist. Love ya, Britt! So glad you're in the right place!

  5. Don't let the skeptics make you second guess your dreams! Just because they aren't living "their" dreams, doesn't mean you can't live yours! Enjoy every minute. The road isn't easy, but nothing that is really worth it ever is! Of course, that only comes from someone just beginning the journey herself, but I am reminded of just how much good I can really do everytime I speak to a client about their "desperate" circumstances! :-)

  6. hahaha people like you make law students like me look bad...people ask me "Are you sure you want to be a lawyer?" and I always say "um...no." and then they ask why I went to law school and I say "um...I'm not really sure..." :) I love that you know what you want to do, someday I hope to be like that.
