to the fireflies,

What can only be described as my "neighborhood" but pre-fireflies since they're very hard to capture with my camera phone.
Tonight, between FHE and volleyball, it was a perfect, gorgeous evening, and it would have been pleasant enough even if you hadn't been around, but I spent an hour with some friends outside my apartment because I knew you'd be there. The thing is, we don't have you in the desert, so last week, when I saw you for the first time, I squealed like a little girl, and then giggled the rest of the way home. Anyway, as I waited for you to glow in the twilight (Stephanie Myer has ruined that word for me), I worried that your novelty had worn off, but it hasn't.

  2. Whoa they don't have fireflies out west? I never knew...I just assumed they were everywhere!! You should get a little jar full of them and bring them back to Utah/Idaho (which will probably lead to some sort of disaster because they will be the new cricket plague of Utah which means you'll need to find seagulls to stop them, but just think, you'll allow people to witness another seagull miracle!).
