Dear 2010

picture of my brother lighting New Years bottle rockets.
You and I, we took on a lot.

Wounds I thought had healed, reopened.
Scars I'd hoped were permanent, faded.
Then some new scrapes
and band aids.

Law school.

A Kafkaesque romantic history in which we discovered that I
was actually the author of the (senseless)(menacing) complexity
And I felt like a lady.

We called six cities across the country "home."

Sometimes I got what I wanted/needed/deserved.

So many republicans.
So much (but not enough)
about contract law.

And thank you for all of that.
Here's to fresh starts
moving on
clean hands
blank slates
And taking root
settling down
staying put.

miss you already

  1. I like this post a lot. I hope I see more of you in 2011.

  2. i love this :)

...i need to think of resolutions.

  3. i am so happy that you got to do this.
and yes, i am safe. the accident was the 23rd. i was rear-ended on i-15, but it wasn't my fault. so i don't have to pay and i'm totally ok. thanks for worrying.
and thanks for coming to my idaho party

  4. Happy New Year. Hope it's a great one. I am little upset that Luke and I's visit was not metaphorically referenced in your poetic post. I know that our visit meant a lot to you, I wish you wouldn't hide it from the world.

I try to respond to comments if I have your email :)
