Ode on Lunch (in prose):

Me and Jen Lee in like... February 2010

When I worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C., every day for lunch, I sat outside on a bench that faced west. I had never taken regular “lunch breaks” before and, even though I was thousands of miles away from home, I loved physically facing practically everything from my past that was important to me. For thirty glorious minutes, I thought about where I came from (which was comforting to a girl who had absolutely no idea where she was going). So I believe in taking lunch breaks. That time I spend away from the pressures of life to meet up with friends or spend a moment in reflection is literally and metaphorically nourishing.

  1. This post deserves a comment (which for some reason I never leave anymore). Good picture. Good (and freezing) day. Good memories. Good post.

  2. You look super cute, even if you are wearing what you claim are the pants that boys hate.

  3. Bravo Brittney. You have a way with words! I really enjoyed this.

I try to respond to comments if I have your email :)
